Think Grammar Simply no.1 word class

Think Simply

If you want to capture the idea of English grammar, you should first be aware of the 4 word classes noun, verb, adjective, adverb. With the understanding of these 4 word classes, you can break down most English sentences grammatically. At least you can spot what’s puzzling.

Word Class?

Word class is a way to categorize words. If you have been using English, you probably have heard the word noun or verb. That is called word class. In other words, word class tells the type of a word. For a basic understanding, you will only need to understand 4 word classes. Other word classes do exist but they are less important.

THE 4 :  Noun, Verb, Adjective, Adverb

Others: Conjunction, Interjection, Article, Interrogative

Definition

If you understand the definition of the 4 word classes, then you have completed half of the understanding you need.

Noun: A word that describes a person, an object, or an idea.

Verb: A word that describes an action.

Adjective: A word that describes a noun.

Adverb: A word that describes everything but a noun (verb, adjective, adverb, sentence).

As seen above, even in the 4 word classes there are only  2 core word classes, noun and verb. The other two are just extra information of them and would not work independently. However you must be careful with adverbs, even with the name, its function is not only to explain just verbs but also other elements other than nouns.
